Will dentures really help?

With proper care, dentures can provide you with a comfortable, beautiful substitute for your natural teeth. It is our goal to help restore confidence and health in your smile.

How long will dentures last?

Dentures typically last between five and seven years. As dentures age, they wear down and stain. Besides, your mouth is always changing, which means you will need adjustments to your dentures from time to time. It is recommended you visit your dentist yearly for a denture check-up.

If you are experiencing any issues with your dentures, it is essential to schedule an appointment at your earliest convenience. Your comfort is important to us!

Will dentures affect my appearance?

Every pair of dentures we produce is unique to our patients. We not only want you to be proud of your smile, but comfortable wearing dentures day-in and day-out. We will work with you to achieve the smile you want for long-lasting changes to your oral health and smile.

How quickly will I adjust to dentures?

It may take a week or longer to adjust to your new dentures. At first, they may seem too big, and you may experience an increase in saliva. This is normal! You need to give your oral tissues and facial muscles time to adapt. Once they do, your dentures should feel very comfortable.

Why do my dentures feel loose?

Your dentures may feel loose because your facial muscles and tissues are still adjusting to your dentures. If your dentures slip, reposition them by biting down and swallowing.

How do I chew with dentures in?

Dentures require you to bite and chew differently. We recommend starting with smaller portions of food and begin by eating slowly, chewing on both sides of your mouth. It is easier to start with softer foods, as this will get you used to chewing with your dentures and build your confidence. We recommend avoiding sticky or hard foods in the beginning.

Why does my speech sound different?

Your speech may sound a bit different when you first get your dentures. Once your tongue, lips, and cheeks get used to the dentures, your speech will return to normal. Reading out loud to yourself is an exercise you can do to help get back to normal speech. Remember to speak slowly to prevent muffled speech. If you have prolonged issues, you may need your dentures adjusted more.

Should I remove my dentures at night?

This varies from patient to patient. We are happy to discuss what will work for you.

Can I use store-bought liners?

If you have problems with your liners, please call our office. It can cause serious damage to your dentures and result in mouth injuries if you try to reline your dentures yourself. Our staff can recognize any issues with your denture liners and fix them.
